Two Forms of the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos!
It’s become clear that this recently discovered mystery Pokémon is, in fact, the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos in its Normal Form! It turns out that the form Terapagos was first discovered in is its Terastal Form. Apparently Terapagos is capable of taking on multiple distinct appearances.

Ya wanna know what I just realized? The overall theme of scarlet and violet isn't actually about our treasure hunt, or making friends along the way,
It's obsession.(and how it hurts those around us.)
In the base game of pokemon scarlet and violet, we learn that the professor,(sada or turo depending on which version you play.) was absolutely obsessed with the paradox pokemon within the scarlet/violet book. They were so obsessed with these pokemon that they wanted, NEEDED to make them a reality by bringing them into our own. Their obsession was so bad, that they not only lost their significant other, but neglected their son to the point of completely abandoning him, all for the purpose of "paradise". Not realizing they already had one with their son.
The obsession has been with the professor since their childhood. As seen in the secret cutscene at kitakami's crystal pool with terapagos in your party, it brings the professor from iirc 10 years before the events of the game start. When they ask to trade for the book ms. Brair wrote they offer their copy of the s/v book and tell you "this book captured my imagination as a child and never let go." They were obsessed. It costed them their life, completely ruined arvens childhood, and almost caused the destruction of the Paldea region because they were too obsessed with having pokemon of the past/future along side them.
Then we go to kitakami, and meet Kieran. A boy who is obsessed with the ogre, a.k.a ogerpon. Kieran believes the two as kindred spirits, outcasts in kitakami because they were different. Though rightly upset at you and his sister for not telling him about meeting ogerpon, takes it too far when he steals the mask from his grandfather. As a result of winning the battle to get the mask back from him his obsession shifts, not really about befriending ogerpon anymore, but about beating you/being as good as you are. He becomes mean and ruthless to those around him in blueberry academy, becoming champion in order to try to be strong enough to beat you.
In the underdepths of area zero his obsession with beating you causes him to seek out terapagos, and catch it so that he can finally beat you.
And finally ms. Briar, obsessed with terapagos and proving it was real. Her ancestor, the original author of the s/v book, heath, was claimed and told to be nothing more than a liar after writing what he had found in area zero. Briar was obsessed, determined to prove terapagos' existence to clear her ancestors name, and that everything in the s/v book was in fact real. In kitakami she was more concerned with figuring out the terastal phenomenon than helping to guide the students from the 2 schools on their field trip.
And once in blueberry, she asks you, carmine and Kieran to join her in area zero to find terapagos. Once in the underdepths she puts herself in danger because of a strangely terastalized glimmora, of which you battle to protect her and the siblings. In the final chamber of the underdepths, she eggs on Kieran to take terapagos(in crystal form) out of the tera crystals around it to finally see the pokemon she's been trying to get to for so long, and then tells him to terastalize the pokemon, putting everyone in danger. As the amount of Tera energy is too much for the little pokemon to control, and thus it goes out of control, destroying the environment around it, nearly causing a cave in.
Ms. Briars obsession with finding terapagos nearly caused the group to get killed because she was so obsessed with finding terapagos. Obsessed with proving that heath was telling the truth all this time.
Pokemon scarlet and violet showed that obsession can hurt and harm those around you. That an obsession like sada/turo, Kieran and ms Briars', will cause the pain of others and themselves in order to reach their goal.

I would love to hear your thoughts about the fucked-up turtle (Terapagos)
"Now let's talk about the turtle. Can we talk about the turtle please, Mac? I've been dying to talk about the turtle with you all day."
Tumblr media
Ok so. Short Answer Re: Thoughts About Terapagos:
WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK. WHY DID IT DO THAT. WHY DID THEY [GAMEFREAK] DO THAT.
Long Answer Re: Thoughts About Terapagos [SPOILERS FOR THE SCARVIO DLC naturally. i havent seen Horizons so i dont rly know whats goin on with this little guy in the anime, just what we've got in the games]:
When the last little batch of new Pokemon in Indigo Disk leaked, about 12 hours or so-ish before the DLC dropped, I was at dinner with my bestie and we were looking at our phones like we were reading breaking world news. And I was looking at this tiny ass png of Terapagos's full Tera (Stellar) form.
Tumblr media
And I immediately blurted out "holy SHIT it's turtles all the way down."
If you're not familiar with the phrase, check out its wikipedia page; here it's most relevant as a saying thrown around with regards to the philosophical concept of infinite regress, i.e. a series of elements (or questions begging an explanation) that that goes on infinitely with each member producing the next. So let's say the world rests on the back of a giant turtle--well, then, what does that turtle stand on to keep it from falling into the void? Why, another, bigger turtle, of course! But what about that turtle? Well, you're not gonna believe this, but it's turtles all the way down.
And here's the other thing about infinite regress: it's a logical fallacy, it's circular reasoning--honestly it's a little bit of a cousin to the "which came first?" chicken and egg argument. The question in these cases never truly gets answered, it just goes on and on forever. Bigger turtles on top of even bigger turtles.
It's a paradox. :)
So Stellar Terapagos, just look at that thing. Even its dex entries talk about how it looks like a planet, how it resembles "the world as the ancients saw it"--it's very much not only trying to evoke the World Turtle concept, but the symbolism of a classic paradoxical saying. So we've already got that going on with it, that already makes me bonkers. AND THAT'S JUST THE SURFACE LEVEL.
Cuz when we look at how Terapagos behaves, things start to go from "well isnt this guy a little weird" to "oh. oh this thing is kind of fucked up and terrifying, hello, what the hell is wrong with it" REAL FAST. Its two most stressed features we see in Indigo Disk are A.) its crystalline nature and how its the progenitor of Terastalization, but also B.) it is ferociously powerful and borderline uncontrollable. It's violent. It bursts out of a Master Ball and almost kills Kieran for daring to try and control it. Heath's illustration of its Stellar form in the Scarlet/Violet Book looks so otherworldly and almost cosmically horrifying. It has Weird Fucking Powers the game does NOT elaborate on (but I will; see more below.)
And also, hey, yeah, its Stellar Form looks like a stack of world turtles, but why the FUCK does its Terastal form also look like a goddamn dream catcher.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally I've been a big fan of the 'imagination theory' re: the Professors and the Paradox Pokemon and Area Zero, and folks have been arguing that Indigo Disk debunks that, but honestly I feel like we're loitering around some untold explanation that's even more bizarre. Terapagos is at least on some level tied to dreams and existentialism, and I really feel like there's more to Tera Crystals and Terapagos's relationship with them than what we've been told. Hell, its cry is even the noise we hear all game when we Terastalize our Pokemon, which produces its own myriad of questions (Are the Crystals some degree of alive? The Tera Crowns all do have Terapago's little turtle head at their base, too--does Terapagos physically or spiritually connect with a Terastalizing Pokemon? And what about that weird crystalizing the AI Professor does during its big boss fight? MUCH TO THINK ABOUT.)
Oh, speaking of Crystals--yeah. I can't NOT talk about the Indigo Disk Crystal Pool Postgame Secret when talking about Terapagos. ONE MORE SPOILER WARNING FOR THAT--SERIOUSLY GO TO THE CRYSTAL POOL AFTER GETTING THE DLC CREDITS. IT WILL BLAST YOU TO BITS. anyway.
Yeah so that's what I mean with Why Did It [Terapagos] Do That. The fact that you dont even need to have it in your party for the postgame Crystal Pool cutscene to trigger and for Terapagos to just pop out of the PC boxes on its own accord and warp space and time (and maybe even reality itself) to irreversible consequence, implying once again some great and uncontrollable power within this beast. Crazy Ass Moments in Pokemon History for CERTAIN.
And the thing that makes me most insane, thinking about Terapagos twisting time to allow you to meet the Professor, the Real Live Professor, to swap notes with them so to speak, the way it facilitates all of that, is the position it now puts the player and Scarvio itself in. If the Professor's research rests on the back of a white book given to them by a child, then what does the research of that white book rest upon? Ah, well, the expedition of Area Zero spurred forth by the fallout of the Professor's research. And what did THAT research rest upon, again...?
Turtles. The whole way down. Chickens and eggs and a paradox you're now responsible for. At the hands of a Normal Type Pokemon that tried to kill a 14 year old.
Terapagos scares the shit out of me. I love it so much. Why Did They Make It Like That <3

I dont live in Paldea so I'm curious, is terrastelizing used for anything but battling? Are there any uses for it outside of battling?
its use is primarily for battles, but there are scientists who are researching the potential of terastal energy as an energy source! much like the energy given off by pokemon during mega evolution, terastal energy is a form of infinity energy- pokemon bioenergy that can be collected and harnessed for use outside of battles. devon company in particular is well known for its work on the topic.
the difficulty is in finding ways to contain that energy without pouring it into a pokemon, and unfortunately, from what i can tell there hasn't been too much success on that front yet. but considering that it was only a little over a decade ago that tera orbs were invented, i imagine we'll eventually see ways to use it popping up.
one possible starting point is these strange capsules that have been found in the great crater that scholars have been calling booster energy...paradox pokemon in particular seem drawn to them, and they may be able to safely store terastal energy for later use. definitely going to need more research, though!

Introducing my Pokemon AU: Subzero! It’s pretty much my replacement for the Indigo Disk (though it takes place directly after The Way Home, into The Teal Mask and then the regular Indigo Disk timeline).
After reading my story rambles, let me know if y’all want more of this AU!
The main thing about this AU is that some parts of the story were done differently. For one, the AI professor was NOT sent back in time, but rather heavily damaged from both the heavy amount of terastal energy consuming them and them fighting the Paradise Protection Protocol. So while they are decommissioned for the time being, the MC (in this AU being Florian) and the rest of the main crew start to work together to try and learn more about the paradox pokemon, and how all this started (since it wasn’t really answered at the end of the adventure and I feel like Arven would want some more closure).
This leads into their maintenance of Area Zero, as they would monitor its energy levels and activity, with Florian being the one venturing into the crater to keep the paradox mons in check, in which he would discover Iron Leaves. This freaks out the group, as they didn’t think any more paradox mons would appear once the machine shut down, so now they’re even more desperate for answers.
During all of this, they are using the lighthouse lab as a makeshift headquarters (sometimes sleeping there, but they still stay in their dorms), and one day while Arven was cleaning, he discovers an offline Magearna in its ball form. The crew manage to wake it up, and it starts to repeat the phrase, “Teal Mask, Indigo Disk”. This leads to the crew, now calling themselves “The Subzero Squad” (courtesy of Nemona, no one else agreed to it lol), researching and learning some of the lore about Kitakami, the Ogre, and, hidden away deep in the Pokemon League database, Penny finds some documents hinting at their possession of an Indigo Disk…
This then kicks off the Teal Mask storyline, as Florian uses the school trip as a way to research further into the Ogre. The only other major change to this storyline is that Florian manages to meet up with Ogerpon a short while after Kieran shows him the den, and talks to it about helping him and his friends back in Paldea. Ogerpon is hesitant and distant at first, but as the regular story progresses she trusts Florian more and decides to help him (This is why Florian had to take Ogerpon, otherwise he would have just left her in Kitakami to enjoy her happier life).
Directly after returning home, Florian immediately enters the crater with Ogerpon to try and find a connection between her masks and the machine. Finding nothing initially, he returns to the lab to meet up with the rest of the crew when the Teal Mask reacts to the terastal husk of the AI professor, waking him temporarily. After his initial shock, he manages to tell the kids that the mask is important to Area Zero, but the Indigo Disk is key to stopping paradox pokemon from appearing in Area Zero and truly saving Paldea…before he shuts down once more.
Knowing what they know now, the group makes a hard decision: Nemona and Penny need to infiltrate the Pokemon League to find the Indigo Disk, as the documents Penny found hint at it being in their possession. This leads to a week or two of the two girls getting super close to the League members, Geeta especially, and Nemona is the one to find the disk’s location. She has to lie to Geeta however (which she REALLY doesn’t wanna do but y’know peer pressure and uh yeah the fate of the whole region) to get her out of her office so that she can slip in to steal the disk.
Once she’s got the disk, she makes it back to the group, whom descend back into the depths to try and find where the disk goes, and then the regular Indigo Disk storyline starts to play out (without Kieran, Carmine, and Ms. Briar). They battle the Stellar-type mons, make it to the center, and out comes Terapagos in its normal form. They try to catch it, but it breaks out of every ball they put it in. In a fit of desperation, Florian chucks his bag at it, and Terapagos likes it and climbs inside! So with their ‘caught’ mysterious pokemon, they exit the under depths and begin the search for answers with this strange pokemon…
And that’s about it! Sorry I know this was a lot but I wasn’t really happy with the ending of the DLC (was still good tho!) and wanted to retcon it a bit to make more logical sense based off of the characters and what happened to each of them. I’ll try to flesh out this AU more as I go forward, so some parts of the story may change. This is just the basic timeline of events. There’s a whole Treasures of Ruin arc I didn’t even START to go into lol.

man goes insane about pokemon- the post. Following the readmore is copy-pasted notes that are endgame/postgame spoilers regarding some mysterious things that are simply put driving me up tha wall.
if you have any of your own notes to contribute, please for the love of god feel free.
Tumblr media
-the case of paradox pokemon is extremely strange, and this is even pointed out in the game itself. if the professor was inspired to bring the pokemon back to their own time by a book… that documented said pokemon before the professor was even born… -pokemon that are even pointed out to have Not Existed In Any Form at the given times, or at least not in the past (slither wing, a lack of volcarona in the fossil timeline) -just where are these paradox pokemon from? are they even really pokemon? is it even from our own world, let alone time? -as a side note, just why are they so aggressive… EXCEPT for the players legendary?
symbols -the plate symbol. a similar symbol appears on the whiteboards in the professors research station, seeming to represent time (hourglass shape, possibly two zeroes on the side representing present time??). -the crop circles. laid over an un-rotated map, the cross over the shrines locations. additionally, they appear almost like arrows pointing in the cardinal directions, again not disimilar to the shrines. in such case however, what is it doing in area zero? -the hexagonal symbol. likely representing terastal phenomenon, it has unreadable notes around its sketch in the book. the terastal phenomenon and this symbol however could relate back to the bizarre 'disk-shaped' entity as well (which on that note, how is the illustration to be interpreted? theres a recognizably beastly creature near the top, but it doesn't quite resemble a disk. at the same time, very little does in the picture, as the depiction seems somewhat Spherical. is it possibly an extra-dimensional pokemon? 4th dimension time as a direction smething something) -fourth symbol. what the fuck no seriously i cant find anything on this. my best guess was oh it represents the curl of the ride pokemons tail and its saddle-esque part, but its hard to say much as i have not found it anywhere ingame aside from the corners of the book wth the other symbols. theres no mention, no acknowledgement, no presence in area zero. What the hell is this?
as a final note of interest, if the 'imaginary' creature depicted in the books comes to manifest in possible dlc, then you will know for sure something is fucking weird. are these things manifested from thought and will, like the ruinous quartet? are they from another world entirely, or even from another dimension?
and in the end, just where did the professor go when they entered the 'time machine'?

Nemona x Penny teamup art for my fic 'Operation Comet Punch!'
These were drawn by @yxorul as an comm and they did such a great job with it, including helping me finalize designs for the gauntlet/'mon!
Utilizing technologies and special stones from Paldea (SV), Ferrum (Pokken), and Pasio (PokeMas), Penny has been aspiring to achieve her dream of being able to inhabit the form of a Pokemon when desired, even if as an avatar.
Tumblr media
Her solution? Reverse engineering Porygon and reconfiguring things to create a brand new, digitized 'mon manifested in physical form via Terastal Crystals. She dubs it: Veeveeon. It can switch Type loadouts, changing its 'collar'/colors and movesets by manipulating Tera energy.
Tumblr media
Nemona, meanwhile, has spent a few years studying martial arts under Gym Leader Bea from Galar and fitness guru Dendra of Paldea. While her stamina can still be an issue, she's become so strong she doesn't need her arm brace, and has even learned to use Tera energy on herself.
Tumblr media
Harnessing Terastal energy from a Tera Orb, she can make her spiritual Tera Type -- Steel -- become physical, applying crystal-made, metallic armor pieces to her form and boosting her abilities in Pokemon-like ways. This skill comes with various caveats and she's still ironing it out.

The Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon Has Been Discovered in Its Terastallized State!
Ogerpon has recently been sighted in its Terastallized state in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask, but its appearance seems to differ from that of most other Tera Pokémon. Exactly what sort of power this Legendary Pokémon possesses is still unknown.

Ogerpon Mountain Frost fake mask form by me for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Discord’s holiday contest :3
LORE: The Mountainfrost mask is Ogerpon’s secret 5th mask. Some time before the loyal three attacked, Ogerpon and her late human decided to trek towards snowy mountains on a journey for unknown reasons. As a gift of well wishes and protection, the town’s mask maker sent them off with the Mountainfrost mask. Then one day, Ogerpon and her human returned to their shelter after gathering firewood to find that an avalanche had completely buried it. Luckily Ogerpon, her human, and their masks were unscathed, but the Mountainfrost mask was unrecoverable beneath the snow. The mask maker’s wish for the two’s protection had worked and took the avalanche for them. However, seeing this as a bad omen, the two decide to return to Kitakami for safety without knowing the tragedy that awaits them.
Upon terastalization holding the Mountainfrost mask, Ogerpon’s Embody Aspect will grant her evasion. Without tera, she has Intimidate. The mask design is inspired by the four emotions Ogerpon’s other masks represent. Teal = Joy, Hearthflame = Anger, Wellspring = Sadness, and Cornerstone = Fulfillment, so the Mountainfrost mask represents fear. All masks also take inspiration from masks used in Japanese Noh theater. Because the Wellspring mask takes notes from both the Onna and Namanari style masks and shows the descent of feminine sorrow into evil, and because ice is a different form of water, I decided to lean into the Namanari mask inspiration further by depicting the fearful screaming face of a woman who has been abandoned, left to perish in the cold, and is growing blunt oni horns as a result of her descending emotions. Then upon terastalizing, the face morphs from fear to hatred (as hatred derives from fear), and the once blunt horns develop further to show progression in the depicted woman’s path to darkness. Other inspirations I used include the Yuki-Onna, Krampus, and “The Scream” by Edvard Munch.
I’m more active on Instagram ⬇️⬇️⬇️

So you know how in the last few pokemon games there's been a few "Nuclear Bomb" level legendary pokemon? specially the ones that have incredible destructive force while giving off magical radiation
-Z-Crystals are shards chipped off of Necrozma's body containing a specific kind of energy, and Necrozma eventually becomes a super powered boss fight in usum, having higher stats than Mega Rayquaza, and bumping all its stats with its concentrated Light Energy.
-Dynamax power is all leftover radiation from the previous Darkest Day where Eternatus manifested a full Eternamax body and enacted The Rumbling on Galar. You and Hop prevent this from getting that bad again by beating Eternatus in a raid battle, while its already distorting time and space around it so much you can see your own journey around you.
-Terapagos lives in an impact crater and when it acieves its Stellar form it constantly blasts out concentrated Terastal energy. So much so that everyone presents Tera Orbs never run out of charge ever again. It manages to overpower Kieran, break a master ball and again needs to be defeated in a raid battle before it hurts you and presumably wanders out into the wider world.
Makes me wonder about Victini. Victini is kept on Liberty Garden, and appears to be a representation of the statue of Liberty in the pokemon world, specifically its torch. It's listed specially in the pokedex as number 0, before the starters, almost like it's being concealed, and it also has a devastatingly strong fire move called V-Create and an ability that boosts accuracy. Makes me wonder if victini is supposed to similarly be some kind of stand-in for a nuclear bomb.
